Controlling Blood Sugar: Remote Patient Monitoring Miami Beach FL

Controlling Blood Sugar With Remote Patient Monitoring

About 69 of every 1,000 adults in the U.S. sought emergency services due to problems with low blood sugar and diabetes. Diabetic ketoacidosis, hypoglycemia, and hyperglycemia were the three most common reasons for hospitalization.

It’s a situation that’s too familiar. Your dad is home now, but he has strict guidelines he must follow. You’re not sure he’s capable of doing everything the doctor says without someone checking in regularly throughout the day. Have you looked into the services available with remote patient monitoring?

Having a Remote Care Coordinator

You can have a remote care coordinator (RCC) help your dad inventory and monitor medications, food items, and any other household items. If he needs more items, a family member or friend in his circle of trusted people gets a call.

You might live too far away to get to your dad on a timely basis. But, you’ll provide a list of people who are nearby. It might be your dad’s neighbor or a cousin who works in his town. Whoever is on the list gets a call telling them what he needs. If grocery or prescription deliveries are available in your dad’s town, you could arrange deliveries for her.

Chronic Care Screenings and Monitoring

Your dad’s RCC calls him to make sure he’s taking any prescription medications and recording his blood sugar readings. Your dad’s doctor may have him test his sugar levels when he gets up and before and after meals. He needs to do this and record the readings so that his doctor can review them.

Equipment can be installed in your dad’s home to capture his blood pressure each day. There is also equipment that can monitor him for falls and alert people if he has fallen and needs assistance.

An RN For Consultations

If your dad needs to talk to an RN, virtual consultations with an RN are an option. An RN can assess his health and determine if he should be seen by his doctor. RNs can talk to him about diabetes care and make sure he’s checking his feet.

Updating Family Members

You and other family members on the agency’s contact list get calls to keep everyone updated. If your dad isn’t doing what his doctor says, you’ll get a call. If he’s doing well, you’ll get that update, too. It’s a good way to keep up with how he’s doing and reconsider his care plan to make sure it’s working well for him.

Your dad’s health relies on how well he manages his blood sugar levels. Help him take better care of himself by arranging remote patient monitoring services. It’s a good way to keep him from returning to the hospital or having to move.
